What is beta amiloid?

Beta amyloid is a protein that accumulates in the brain and is associated with Alzheimer's disease. It is a peptide fragment that is produced when a larger protein called amyloid precursor protein (APP) is broken down. Beta amyloid can form clumps or aggregates, which can interfere with normal brain function and eventually lead to cognitive decline. There are different forms of beta amyloid, including soluble and insoluble, which can have different effects on the brain. Research is ongoing into the role of beta amyloid in Alzheimer's disease and potential treatments that can target this protein.
